About Us

anill is my heart project with the great desire to bring the culinary diversity of Jaffna closer to more people.

When my parents Jamuna and Francis fled to Germany with my two older siblings in 1984, there were hardly any opportunities to maintain their identity through traditional Tamil cuisine. Nevertheless, my young parents always found ways to have spices sent to them from within the diaspora or brought by friends and family members that came to visit us. The longing and missing for home was more bearable when the smells of home wafted through our apartment. So we, and over the years especially my friends, grew up with the colorful Tamil cuisine and it became an important part of our lives. Today, of course, all of this is easier and more accessible thanks to the many diaspora-run supermarkets. We have many spices that are not available here or are very difficult to get, brought to us from Sri Lanka so that we can bring you our unique taste experiences right to your homes in the best possible way.
At anill, we place great value on authenticity. Our products bear their original Tamil names, which you can discover in our characters and phonetics.

Our spice mixtures are intended to invite you to cook and experiment. The sambals, pickles and snacks we prepare ourselves are ready to eat and try. Their flavours and textures are diverse - just like the wonderful culinary spectrum of Tamil cuisine in Jaffna.

Immerse yourself in the wonderful world of typical Jaffna Tamil spice combinations.
