Acharu has an intense, spicy flavour and a pleasant acidity that goes perfectly with the hearty and often spicy main dishes of northern Sri Lankan cuisine. It is often served as a side dish with rice and curries and brings a refreshing touch to the plate. The combination of crunchy vegetables and aromatic spices makes Acharu a valued addition to any meal and a highlight of the Jaffna Tamil food culture.
We always eat Acharu like kimchi or other small side dishes with rice dishes or just plain as a snack on the couch.
We at Anill have decided to offer Acharu with the absolute basics of the Northern Territory in Sri Lanka: carrots, pearl onions and fresh green chillies.
