Tamil coffee is a spiced coffee that is very easy on the stomach thanks to the cumin. The first sip reveals harmonious aromas of coriander, cumin and ginger, which give the coffee a special depth. The fine acidity provides a refreshing liveliness and rounds off the taste experience.
We also like to drink it at home when we have cold symptoms or stomach problems, as both coriander and cumin have a soothing effect on the stomach because they are easily digestible and are good for the respiratory tract. The ginger, with its anti-inflammatory effect, rounds off the taste. The coffee is milder than pure coffee and has a very unique taste.
In Jaffna we like to drink it with milk and sugar. At home, mum discovered vanilla sugar and almond milk - and so it is an absolute insider tip both hot and as an iced coffee! A dessert to drink..
Preparation:
The coffee can be prepared like ground coffee in a filter machine or an espresso maker. We recommend 1.5-2 teaspoons per cup, depending on the strength. Add milk and sugar to taste.
